New Sugar Tour + 'Fell Like A Feather' on MERCYLAND
Hello from Nashville! I just got back from SXSW in Austin, Texaswith my band Sugar and the Hi-Lows. We had a great time playing 9 shows in just 4 days. The streets of Austin were packed with bands, singer-songwriters, pedi cabs, taco trucks and lots of folks enjoying the Texas heat and music. I am continuing to tour in support of the new Sugar and The Hi-Lows record that is available online and in stores and yes on Spotify. Check out the new tour dates and what Billboard, USA today and Marie Claire Magazine had to say about the release! _
MERCYLAND w/ Emmylou Harris, The Civil Wars and more . . .
I recently had the opportunity to co-write and record a song for a project called MERCYLAND: Hymns for the Rest of Us -- a project spearheaded by producer Phil Madeira. He asked several artists including Mat Kearny, The Civil Wars, Buddy Miller, Shawn Mullins, Emmylou Harris and more to be a part of the record. In his words, "I was on my boss Emmylou's tour bus in 2008 when a really crazy TV preacher came on the satellite TV and caused me to wonder how to counterbalance this bad PR God continues to get from his own flock. So, I came up with the simple idea of gathering together a few great musical artists singing songs written around the basic theme of "What If God Is Love?" I mentioned it to Emmylou Harris , and she said, "I'm in".' A couple months later Phil asked me to get a cup of coffee at Frothy Monkey in Nashville and asked if I would want to write a song for this very special project. I said 'I'm in too'. I can't wait for you to hear what I hope will be a compelling record for those of us who find ourselves hungry for a different perspective in the Christian conversation. The record will be available online and in stores April 24th. _
